    Shatterdome Seattle is the only Pacific Rim fan convention on the Pacific Rim. It is a one-day event featuring a private showing of the movie, cosplay and trivia contests, and panel discussions. The convention is for fans by fans. Go Pacific Rim on the Pacific Rim!

  • Leviosa

    Leviosa is a new Harry Potter and YA Literature convention that's a return to the mid-sized, hotel-based, academic-fannish con model. The con has six tracks of programming, including Academic, Fandom, Creativity, Slash & Queer Lit, YA Literature, and Writing. Programming will be a mix of user-submitted proposals and sessions featuring special guests, including bestselling authors and top literary agents. Plus, there will be tons of fun, informal programming, including a game name, a craft faire, trivia, karaoke, and a magical ball.

    Running since 1977, WisCon bills itself as "the world's leading feminist science fiction convention. WisCon encourages discussion and debate of ideas relating to feminism, gender, race and class. WisCon welcomes writers, editors and artists whose work explores these themes as well as their many fans. We have panel discussions, academic presentations, and readings as well as many other uncategorizable events. WisCon is primarily a book-oriented convention... with an irrepressible sense of humor."

  • Free Comic Book Day

    Free Comic Book Day 2015 will take place Saturday, May 2. This is expected to be the largest FCBD ever, with over 5.6 million comics given away to visitors at 2,100 participating comic shops.

  • Figments & Filaments Convention

    Figments & Filaments is a celebration of "costuming & cosplay in all of its various genres and applications. Whether researching the clothing of a by-gone era, designing costume for stage or screen or the whim of an individual, what one wears can say volumes of not only the times & society that a person identifies with, but also what that person says about themselves and their society." Guests of honor include author and costume historian Gale Owen-Crocker (An Encyclopaedia of Dress and Textiles of the British Isles, c.450-1100) and author and costume designer Matthew Gnagy, who works as a tailor on Saturday Night Live and teaches at Parsons University of Fashion Design.

    Interested in historical RPF? (What's RPF?) History Fest, a first-ever prompt fest for "fanworks about historical figures," is soliciting prompts through March 15, and fills are accepted through April 30. Fills can be fanfic, fanart, or mixes, and there is no required minimum level of historical significance.

  • Sinpozium

    Sinpozium is a Sydney slash gathering that's been held eight times previously (2000-2002, 2005, 2011-2014). It is a fan-run, not-for-profit weekend-long party. Sinpozium 2015 will be held on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May 2015.

  • After Camlann: A Big Bang Challenge for BBC's Merlin

    There are several roles to play in this BBC Merlin Big Bang, and all signups are open now--for writers, artists, betas, and "cheerleaders." The writer signup deadline is April 20, artists should sign up by May 30, and posting will take place in August.

  • Box of Tricks: A Pros Big Bang Fanfiction Challenge
