Call for Papers: Intensities - The Journal of Cult Media, issue six

Intensities - The Journal of Cult Media has recently relaunched and has issued a call for papers for issue six focusing on television shows "that have achieved cult status at a historical distance". Papers are sought for both established shows and for shows that have received limited critical attention. According to the call: "[T]he papers will locate those shows historically, either by drawing on archive materials or suggesting new cultural, historical or institutional contexts in which they might be understood."

First Annual Fandom and Neomedia Studies (FANS) Conference

The First Annual Fandom and Neomedia Studies (FANS) Conference will be held in Dallas, TX, on 1 and 2 June 2013. The FANS Conference is hosted and sponsored by A-Kon, the longest continually running anime and manga convention in North America. It will be held at the Dallas Hilton Anatole Hotel. Conference pre-registration is $60. Pre-registration closes on 28 April 2013. Pre-registration includes a full weekend pass to A-Kon 24. On-site registration will also be available for $70. All presenters must pre-register.

Doctor Who: Walking in Eternity

The University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, England, will be hosting Doctor Who: Walking in Eternity, an academic conference celebrating the 50th anniversary of global phenomenon from 3-5 September 2013. The interdisciplinary conference, a joint venture between the university's School of Creative Arts and School of Humanities, will bring together scholars and creative professionals to "explore Doctor Who's universal and timeless appeal." Call for Papers: LonCon 3

"The academic programme at Loncon 3, the 72nd World Science Fiction Convention, is offering the opportunity for academics from across the globe to share their ideas with their peers and convention attendees. To reflect the history and population of London, the host city, the theme of the academic programme is ‘Diversity’. We will be exploring science fiction, fantasy, horror, and all forms of speculative fiction, whether in novels, comics, television, and movies or in fanworks, art, radio plays, games, advertising, and music."
