Reasons
Ada Lovelace - pretty much the real life person who came up with the idea of programming and using a database to store and control information - even if it was on huge cards to store patterns for weaving.
Holmes & Watson - the epitome of finding and sorting out what's going on.
Valentina Tereshkova - The first woman in space *seriously* deserves credit she doesn't get. How many Americans sincerely think Sally Ride was the first woman in space?
Spock - seriously, if you're wanting things very logically and precisely organized, who else but Spock?
Hypatia - again, a woman who needs *SERIOUS* recognition. She stood against the rioting crowd, trying to protect the largest store of knowledge in the ancient world. She gave her life in this incident.
Hedwig - While the bisexuality of Jack Harkness is appropriate, it also seems rather grade-schoolish. Nyota Uhura is very appropriate as well, bringing in major credit for being old-school Star Trek. However, I have to give the nod here to the one character who *ALWAYS* supported Harry Potter, through the horrors of his summers, and elsewhen.
